Antique travis sled - $500 (Brookfield)

This antique travis sled was found in a barn clean-out in Randolph. It appears to have been hand made, perhaps in the 1920's. It follows fairly closely a set of plans published in chapter 26 of the 1918 book, "Carpentry & Mechanics for Boys" by Alfred Neely, viewable here:

The sled is big - eight feet long - and well made. The seat appears made of oak. One of the back runners has some rot, probably due to the sled sitting on a dirt floor for years, but is otherwise in good condition. The runners have iron banding for reduced friction and durability.
