Two piece desk hand made by 19th/20th century NY architect Henry Martyn Congdon for his son, Vermont author and historian Herbert Wheaton Congdon, given to my father, Herbert's son. Bottom portion has a fold down leaf to make writing surface with 8 cubbies and three small drawers. Underneath this there are three pull out drawers originally for architects drafts. Front of desk has lovely decorative woodwork. Top piece has two glass doors and four book shelves. Original brass fittings and key, fine workmanship.
