This case has been stored in an attic for years and years. It was locked away in another set of nesting Amelia Earhart luggage. It is early 1900's. I am not kidding when I say this should be in a museum.
The case was locked, so I spent the money to have a locksmith open it with one of their Skeleton keys and then purchased the key from them in addition to their time. There are two additional keys that were found inside the case, but, they do not fit this case.
This is a treasure for any collector of vintage luggage, trunks, cases, etc. It is in fabulous condition. The only issue I could find, is that one of the locks doesn't spring back into position. But, it works fine to open it. You just have to move it manually to get it to secure again.
The case has an assortment of toiletry items, STERLING comb, STERLING handheld mirror, STERLING brush, Hat Pin storage bottle, Red Sterilization case, Red Soap case?, Hair Curler, 3 bottles for perfume, etc. 2 of them are half full with what appears and smells like perfume. The glass bottles have what appear to be silver tops, but, there isn't any marking for sterling on them. My guess is they are plated. There is also a mirror attached to the top lid of the case, That mirror is seen in its case attached to the inside of the top lid.
All these items are in such good condition, they appear to perhaps never really been used. INCLUDED IN THIS SALE IS THE OUTER PROTECTIVE COVER. MADE OF CLOTH AND LEATHER. This protective covering is what kept the outside of this item in such fantastic condition. (it is the last picture of the group)
DIMENSIONS 17 1/2" L x 11 3/4" D x 5 1/2" H (Length measurement does not include the handle)
Honestly, I do not know the true value of this item. I haven't seen one as complete as this one on ebay or elsewhere in this condition. I have found individual accessory pieces that the are like those contained here. But, not complete. Look closely at the brush and comb. They in what seem to be untouched condition. The Sterling handheld mirror looks like it just left the factory.
I can't call this a complete case, as there does appear to be one piece missing. (See empty holder on the right side of case.)
If anyone know what it held, please contact me and let me know. Perhaps it was meant to hold a facecloth?
I HAVE SET THE PRICE WHERE I HAVE BASED ON VALUES I SAW FOR INDIVIDUAL ITEMS AND ADDED A BIT FOR IT BEING NEAR COMPLETE AND ITS INCREDIBLE CONDITION. NOTE: I don't just want to list this. I want to sell it. BEST OFFER OPTION IS ON. USE IT, IF YOU WANT THIS ITEM. SHIPPING IS AVAILABLE.
