For sale is an outstanding example of Americana. Perfect proportions, stately presence, and, most importantly, bold tiger maple graining. Possibly made in Pennsylvania right around 1830, nice hand-cut dovetails with poplar secondary wood, a dovetailed case, and what appears to be the original glass. The craftsman took the extra time to chamfer the glue blocks on the underside of the cabinet. The upper and lower cabinet have metal latches and wood turnbuckle knobs; the lower cabinet has a serpentine shelf. Behind the drop front lid, one is pleased to find some of the boldest South American crotch mahogany available, along with a multitude of cubbies. Squeezed between the three regular drawers is a two-tiered little change or stamp drawer, a nice unusual feature.

The key only works on the drop-down lid.
