This 1937 Cadillac Series 75 Limousine convertible is one car with a special place in history.
About This 1937 Cadillac Series 75 Limousine:
According to Dr. Temple(the third owner)it is one of 32 Cadillac limousines built in 1937 and this is the only one known to exist. There is a package of documents to prove that this classic has been a three-owner vehicle since 1937.
A Mrs. M. L. High purchased this Cadillac limousine convertible brand new in 1937, and there’s her original 1937 license plate on the car now. The documents that go with the car include a newspaper clipping with the third owner’s words saying that back in 1937, Mrs. High paid $7800 for her brand new Cadillac. The owner says that at today’s prices, this is about $130,000.
The second owner bought the car in 1950 and transported it to North Carolina where he kept it in a family business building. According to the documents, the third owner Dr. Temple discovered the car in Sparta and bought it in 1963. Dr. Temple brought this classic to various car shows, parades, and other activities over the 58 years that he owned it. Finally, his widow Brenda Temple sold the car.
The document package includes the handwritten letter by Dr. Temple's wife describing the car on four pages. Besides, the bidders can read an appraisal report($102,000)dated December 2020.
One of the newspaper clippings has a photo of Dr. Temple showing off his “rare 1937 Cadillac limousine” followed by the article saying that the car will become antique in 1967.
In addition, there are receipts for professional repairs done on the car like replacing wheel cylinders, electric fuel pump, brake shoes, and so on in the amount of $6,357.96 dated 7/19/21
It is rare to find a classic car from this era with original paint, but this example has some chips, and flaking. However, the car is still rust-free. The sheet metal everywhere is rust-free and 100% original with no welding. The glass shows some delamination after 85 years. The chrome is all 100 percent original, as the frame, floors, running boards, and dual metal spare tire covers. The back seat upholstery and headliner are all original, along with the original cigarette lighter.
Restored this one of kind classic is potentially in the hundreds of thousands!
