Details on Maintenance:
1) The timing chain is original. Audi states that they do not need to be replaced.
2) I did replace the water pump with a metal housing unit.
3) The body is clean for its age/mileage - in other words minor nicks and paint chips here and there, with some very light rusting around the edges of the front wheel wells, but nothing serious.
4) There has been one intermittent sensor issue over the last year with the coolant overflow reservoir - the sensor will wink out for like a second and the alarm will go off on the driver’s LCD screen but you can see that the engine temp is totally normal on the instrument cluster, so it’s not a real alarm and then it will reset a minute later like nothing ever happened. I have debated about changing out the coolant overflow reservoir which holds the sensor (sensor cannot be replaced on its own). The parts are like $45 and it would take maybe an hour or two to do, but since the issue is very intermittent, I haven’t bothered.
5) Like all VW/Audi 2.0L turbos, this unit does eat oil between changes - like 1 Liter over 10,000 miles, which is pretty good if you’re familiar with this engine. There is some light oil leaking around the front end engine cover. Not crazy and also part of this ~1 Liter over 10,000 miles. I actually bought the gasket for this, but haven’t done it.
Otherwise runs good. Gets 30 MPG in the summer, less in the winter. Last summer I changed the spark plugs and PCV assembly.
