Walker Tutoring is hiring! Join a growing local tutoring service! (Burlington)

compensation: $34-$36/hr
employment type: contract

Walker Tutoring offers one-on-one tutoring services to students of all ages. We mostly focus on math, and also do some science, test prep, writing and study skills tutoring. We are currently looking for tutors for the 2019-2020 school year with experience tutoring students in math through calculus, as well as candidates who could assist with test prep (SAT and ACT) and high school sciences at the AP level.

Required:
-Bachelors (or perhaps Masters) degree
-Experience tutoring and fluency in:
------math through AP calculus; and/or
------standardized test preparation (SAT, ACT, GRE), including "tricks" for standardized tests; and/or
------AP sciences, especially chemistry and physics
-A joy in the challenge of finding many ways to explain concepts
-Extensive one-on-one education experience
-A strong desire to help all students succeed
-An ability to communicate appropriately with students, parents and school systems
-Flexible schedule, particularly in afternoons/evenings (and possibly some daytime)
-Vibrant, warm, engaging personality with a knack for connecting with middle and high school students
-Organized and detail oriented around record keeping and communication
-Commitment through school year ‘19-’20 (longer preferred)

Preferred:
-Certified teacher
-Experience working with students with special needs
-Experience working with ELL students
-Understanding of needs of homeschooled students
-Spanish/French language fluency
-Longer commitment
