Maplehill School and Farm is seeking a reliable and experienced Kitchen Assistant to help prepare meals for students and staff on our Plainfield-area campus.
This is a part-time, school-year position working directly with our Farm-to-Table Coordinator. The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, attentive to cleanliness and food safety, and comfortable working in a school environment alongside middle- and high-school-aged students.
Position Responsibilities
-Assist with preparing and serving nutritious meals
-Support daily kitchen setup, cleanup, and dishwashing
-Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen workspace
-Help receive, store, and organize food and kitchen supplies
-Follow established food-safety and sanitation practices
-Work collaboratively with the Farm-to-Table Coordinator and other school staff
-Interact with students in a patient, respectful, and supportive manner
-Assist with other kitchen and meal-program responsibilities as needed
Preferred Qualifications
-Previous kitchen, food-service, or meal-preparation experience
-Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, and detail
-Dependability and punctuality
-Ability to work independently and as part of a team
-Ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with students and staff
-Comfort working in an active school environment
-Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Schedule and Compensation
-Monday through Thursday
-8:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m.
-Approximately 24 hours per week
-School-year position running from August through June, with approximately two months off during the summer
-Starting wage of $20-25 per hour, with consideration given to experience

Maplehill School and Farm is a safe, caring, land-based educational community located on 230 acres in central Vermont. We serve up to 30 students across three campuses.
