LARGE FIELD GROWN TREES, $250.00 each, all sizes, all varieties.
All our field grown trees are dug fresh with our Care Tree tree-spade.
Field grown trees CANNOT BE DUG DURING THE ACTIVE GROW SEASON
Trees must be dug before mid-May or after August. Trees can be selected and tagged anytime.
Our tree spade digs a 32-inch diameter root ball, large enough to guarantee a successful transplant and still a nice manageable size to plant yourself. We use slightly over sized baskets and preload them with a mixture of compost, peat, rich potting soil and fertilizer. Then we put the tree in and tie it all up into a nice tight root ball. Simply dig the hole, remove the stretch wrap and plant the entire root ball, basket and all. No need to dig an oversized hole and add additional peat. We use only untreated burlap and rope which quickly turns into additional compost. The wire basket is made with small diameter wire which will rust away quickly. It turns into iron in the soil. This makes planting these trees so simple and easy, anyone can do it with complete success. Keeping the root ball tied tight and secure during transport and planting protects the tree's roots from damage.
We are glad to share our tips and techniques, to help make transporting, unloading and planting your new trees as easy and simple as possible, while saving a lot of money on delivery and planting costs.
Trailer rentals are very inexpensive and work great for transporting trees. Open (flat bed) utility, equipment, car or dump trailers are ideal for ease of loading and unloading larger trees.
Visit the tree farm and tag the trees you like. We can dig, ball and load about 3 per hour while you wait, or for larger quantities we can get them ready for pickup at a later date. Call or text to check availability or reserve stock.

Resistance to fire blight, cedar-apple rust, and mildew, Profuse display of pure-white bloom that lasts for weeks, this tree is already a landscaping winner in spring. When covered in bright red ripening fruit, Dolgo looks like a decorated Christmas tree. The early-mid season fruit is slightly elongated, crimson, and about 1.5 inches. It is sweet-tart and tannic, a refreshing little snack. Dolgo is a great tree for landscaping and pollination. The fruit, as it holds very well to the tree, can be used to attract wildlife and it also makes a stunning red sauce or jelly.
SARGENT CRABAPPLE (5', bearing) Compact, low maintenance. Snowy white flowers in spring, yellow foliage and bright red fruit in fall. Its compact size makes it ideal for small yards and landscapes, sloped areas, and under utility lines. Use it for hedging or privacy, along fence lines, patios or sidewalks, or in mixed borders. At maturity, grows 6-10 feet tall and 6-12 feet wide. It provides nearly year-round color for your landscape. In the spring, red and pink buds turn into fragrant white blossoms, while dense green foliage turns yellow in the fall. Clusters of small, bright-red fruit survive into the winter. It is very cold hardy, the fruit is yellow with a red blush and white flesh and is sweet and delicious.
BLACKGOLD SWEET CHERRY (5') excels in colder climates with its heavy yields of large, dark, and flavorful cherries, thanks to its late-season bloom, self-fertility, and resistance to both disease and frost. Its adaptability, combined with minimal maintenance requirements, makes it an ideal choice for home gardeners seeking a reliable, productive sweet cherry tree.
BLACK PEARL SWEET CHERRY (5') Early season, extra sweet, large, firm, dark fruit. Hardy, vigorous, and very productive. Black Pearl is the only variety we carry that is not self-fertile and will require another early or midseason blooming sweet cherry tree such as Stardust or Whitegold as a pollenizer. The fruit ripens early without cracking and the flavor is so outstanding, we decided to carry it even though it is not self-fertile. Black Pearl is a delicious, sweet treat (about 20% sugar) that is also exceptionally firm and stores well. It is large and, as its name suggests, very dark in color.

SUMMER CRISP PEAR (8') A sweet, crisp, winter hardy pear. This is an upright and productive tree with fire blight resistance. It blooms early and is very winter hardy, known to be long lived. The medium-large fruit ripens mid-August, sweet, low acid, crisp flesh, almost like an Asian pear.

At Arbor Hill Tree Farm in Eden, Vermont, we have thousands of container-grown trees and shrubs available. Typically, in 3,5,7, or 10 gal. nursery pots. Started at the tree farm from seed, small transplants or cuttings, and grown outdoors in nursery containers, these trees and shrubs are very hearty, fully established and conditioned to the Vermont climate. With good soil and full sun, most varieties will typically add 1 to 3 feet in height each year.
These fully established container grown trees can be planted any time during spring, summer or fall, without any transplant shock and no interruption to the growth rate. Anyone can plant these with 100% success, easy to transport in the back of an SUV or in a pick-up, the perfect size for planting yourself. Well established with a substantial root ball grown in a nursery pot full of rich, dark, loamy, potting soil, these container-grown trees require very little maintenance, once planted.
Very popular with homeowners as well as contractors and commercial business owners because these are so easy to plant and nearly impossible to get it wrong. Just dig a hole the size of the root ball. Slide the root ball out of the container and into the hole. Renting a power earth auger is a quick and easy way to make the holes, and all but eliminates any hand digging. Makes installing even a long hedge or privacy screen very quick, easy and inexpensive. Also, these container trees can stay in the containers for an extended period of time. No pressure to get them all planted as quickly as possible, just keep them watered once a week and plant them when you have time. Great if you're installing a long hedge or privacy screen yourself and want to spread the work out across several weekends or more.
All container grown trees and plants are priced the same, based on the plant/tree height.
