Introduced in 1972, the DiMarzio Super Distortion (DP100) is a legendary high-output passive humbucker famous for pioneering the aftermarket pickup industry. Featuring ceramic magnets and a DC resistance of roughly 13.68 kΩ, it delivers thick mids, massive lows, and fat highs. Its hot output was specifically designed to drive tube amplifiers into heavy natural overdrive without relying on pedals.
Historically, it has been the go-to choice for legendary rock and metal guitarists like Eddie VanHalen, Ace Frehley, Dimebag Darrell, and Kurt Cobain. It is primarily a bridge-position pickup.
