I'm currently looking for a housemate to join me in an end unit on Julie Drive in Colchester where I have lived since 2018. I am 5 minutes from Colchester High School and Malletts Bay, and maybe 10 minutes from Costco. Our landlord (who lives in St. Albans) will most likely ask us to both sign on to a new 1 year lease with security deposit starting when you move in, which should be possible ASAP as I am in the process of cleaning things up here. Photos will be available soon. I can provide you with contact information for the landlord.
I have a housemate agreement that both of us will sign that will hopefully help avoid future difficulties due to miscommunication about things like any disputes, splitting of household duties, or if one of us needs to depart the lease prematurely - this is intended to protect both of us.
The unit is not fancy but gets the job done, and I have grown to appreciate its proximity to a lot of outdoor activities. Shared spaces (kitchen and living room) on main floor, bedrooms on 2nd level, shared bathroom on 2nd level. Prior housemate of about 6 years left all the major appliances when he moved to Florida, though currently the washing machine needs to be fixed or replaced. Dryer is still functional. Your bedroom would be the one facing the back yard and the woods!
Storage is available downstairs in the basement. There is a small deck out back facing the woods behind Malletts Bay School.
Given some complexities with the landlord, I am looking for a pet free housemate at the moment.
A little bit about me - 40s, moved up from Massachusetts in 2016. Active mainly mountain biking in the warm months and skiing in the cold ones. Work in the ski/bike industry.
Listed rent is your share of the current $1285 a month split 50/50 between the two of us. Landlord is a bit old fashioned and prefers to be paid by check. Utilities sometimes add up to about $200 a month which will be split evenly. I don't really watch TV lately, so currently am only subscribed to Internet service. The past several years, rent has gone up a fairly small amount each year, and is still a pretty good deal for the Burlington area.
If you want to come take a look, get in touch. Once I get the place cleaned up, the best times to come by are probably going to be evenings or on Sunday/Monday, my current days off.
