Environmental recycling company is looking for a 2-6 month intern to help us monitor and feed an third party software team we have already hired for online sales (2 months must be done on-site, remote work can be negotiated afterwards). Integration of existing spreadsheets into online databases that can be shared on shopify, ebay, amazon, etc.
We have a particular need for database and computer vision or object recognition and categorization, which we intend to make available in a cryptocoin program (Dash coin) in West Africa this fall. This is part of a "Fair Trade Recycling" project which is simultaneously funding USA interns in Ghana Tech Sector. We will provide a certain number of parts to benefit development of an "e-waste offset" program described in USA Today as "Fair Trade Recycling". So we want coders, yes, but we want people who give a darn about improving life on the planet as well.
Summary of Coding / Database / Computer Vision position below.
Investigate, prototype, and refine new algorithms in computer vision and deep learning as directed by your mentor.
Document your results, and prepare them for academic publication if appropriate.
Current student in database management, object recognition, image database, or computer vision
Knowledge and experience in your assigned research topic
Ability to learn to prototype, test, improve, and document new computer vision algorithms
You will also be surrounded by colleagues who are committed to helping each other grow from extremely disadvantaged starting points as disabled, born in emerging markets, displaced, or entrepreneurial orientation. You will have direct access to USA and other regulators who are actively trying to establish standards for the exchange of goods you are catalog / databasing.
